S Ramadorai, the current CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services, will step down in October 2009. His current term ends in August 2009 after which he will serve a short two month term. N Chandrasekaran, the current chief operating officer, has been named the CEO designate and will take over when Mr Ramdorai steps down.
TCS is Mr Chandrasekaran’s first job and has worked with the company since 1987. The software company will get a youthful leader, its CEO designate turns 46 this June. If he lasts the full term, he will have nearly two decades to fulfil the group’s vision for TCS. Here’s an excerpt from the company’s site on its future leader: “Responsible for the formulation and execution of the company’s global strategy, Chandra has been at helm of several key strategic transitions in TCS including expanding its business portfolio to include BPO, Infrastructure and Consulting services. Under his leadership, TCS pioneered the creation of its unique Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM™) and ventured into new markets including Europe, China and Latin America.”
